Silver Lake

There is fuel within a couple of miles of the park entrance, which is a genuine advantage over more remote dune destinations. It is also busiest exactly when everyone else needs it, so a Friday evening top-up beats a Saturday morning queue.

FULL SERVICE

Hart

The county seat, a short drive east, and the nearest thing to a full-service town. Fuel, groceries, and a real meal. The sensible last stop if you are coming in from US-31.

ON THE SAND

Nothing

There is no fuel inside the riding area itself. Whatever you burn out there was bought before you aired down, so start the day with a full tank rather than a hopeful one.

Carrying fuel safely

Use approved containers, secured so they cannot shift or tip in transit
Keep cans out of direct sun at camp, because heat builds pressure faster than people expect
Never refuel a hot machine, and let it cool first
Keep a fire extinguisher accessible at camp
Carry more than a single day's worth if you are staying the weekend
