This is the ORV area entrance, and it is not the same as the general state park entrance used by beachgoers and the guided dune ride. If you are towing a machine, set this address specifically. Arriving at the wrong entrance with a loaded trailer is a genuinely annoying way to start a weekend.
Solid markers sit on coordinates recorded in OpenStreetMap. Faded, dashed markers would be approximate anchors placed from written descriptions. Every popup states which it is and names the source, so you can judge how much to trust each one.
Cell coverage on the dunes is thin, particularly away from the welcome center. This map is for orientation before you ride and for knowing what is where. Once you are in the bowl, landmarks and the shoreline you can see are worth more than a phone.
Every mapped point here was taken from OpenStreetMap rather than estimated from a written description, including the scramble area, the ranger station, the flag and noise check, both scramble area gates, and the campground. Nothing on this map is a guess, which is not something every dune map can say.
The orange circle shows roughly how much ground 450 acres covers, drawn around the mapped centre of the scramble area. It is not the legal boundary, which is signed and fenced on the ground. For the official current park map, use the Michigan DNR Silver Lake State Park page.
